Palace aides are reportedly not thrilled about a new interview Prince Harry did with The Guardian, where he defended his memoir, Spare, and spoke about estrangement with his family.
As he put it, "I know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative. The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected. I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear."
Harry also noted that "you cannot have reconciliation before you have truth."
So...what's the reaction been like in the royal household? A palace insider tells Rob Shuter’s ShuterScoop that "Harry’s mouth is his biggest problem. Every time he opens it, he digs the hole deeper."
Another source adds, "He acts like repeating these stories helps, but it just twists the knife. The family is livid—they let him back in, and this is how he repays them."
Yet another royal source predicts that Harry might say he's been misquoted, but "that excuse doesn’t fly anymore. We know what he said. The sad truth is, Harry cannot stop talking—and it’s costing him his family."
Sounds dramatic, but for what it's worth other sources told Us Weekly that things are great between Harry and Charles, saying their meeting was "super positive and very relaxed" and that "they were catching up personally about the children and what has been going on with Charles and his health. There were hugs and tears at the meeting."
